Finding My Uncharted

Finding My Uncharted

Maybe I was never lost. Maybe I was just looking in the wrong direction.

For years, I had this strange desire to become someone I thought I was supposed to be. I built an image of myself, followed it, and slowly became pretty good at living inside it. The funny part is that I actually excelled at it. I worked hard, learned things, pushed myself, and kept moving forward. From the outside, it probably looked like I knew exactly where I was going.

But somewhere along the way, I started working on things that didn't really matter to me. I held on to things simply because I had already invested so much time in them. I chased ideas, expectations, and versions of myself that I thought I needed to become. I kept telling myself that if I just went a little further, everything would eventually make sense.

Then something changed. I started looking at my life less as a collection of things I had achieved and more as a collection of things that actually meant something to me. Some things I thought were important suddenly felt completely irrelevant. And some of the things I had almost forgotten about started feeling like the pieces I should have been paying attention to all along.

I think that's when I finally started finding myself. Not the person I had been pretending to be. Not the person I thought other people expected me to become. Just me — with all the things I genuinely care about, the things I want to build, the things I want to learn, and the experiences I actually want to have.

It feels a little strange because I don't have everything figured out. In fact, I probably have more questions now than I did before. But for the first time, those questions feel exciting instead of frightening. There is something liberating about not having to follow a map someone else drew for you.

And maybe that's why I keep thinking about Nathan Drake. Not because I want to be some treasure hunter running around ancient ruins, but because Uncharted was always about discovering something that wasn't on the map. Maybe this is my version of that. A new chapter, a different direction, and an adventure I haven't figured out yet.

So maybe this isn't the end of anything. Maybe it's the beginning. A new Nathan Drake. A new map. A new Uncharted.

This time, I'm not trying to become someone else. I'm trying to find out who I actually am.
